1 in custody following pursuit on I-70 Thursday morning

ENON, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is in police custody after a pursuit that brought a stretch of eastbound I-70 to a halt this morning.

The suspect is accused of several pursuits throughout the early morning hours with other agencies.

According to a report from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a stolen vehicle listed out of Dayton around 7:19 a.m. The stolen vehicle pulled out of a Speedway gas station in Enon.

The vehicle fled as the deputy attempted to stop it, beginning the pursuit, which included the suspect vehicle striking two fences upon entry into a cul-de-sac on Dorhman Drive before it re-entered the roadway.

More deputies pursued the vehicle as it merged onto I-70 EB.

Following the initiation of a PIT maneuver, the stolen vehicle hit its brakes and made unintentional contact with a deputy cruiser. A second PIT maneuver was activated, after the vehicle attempted to flee once more, and was successful in spinning out the stolen vehicle.

When the suspect vehicle attempted to flee again, another cruiser pulled in front of it, the former crashing into the cruiser, disabling them both. The driver then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended quickly by deputies around 7:24 a.m.

The person in custody is identified as a 36-year-old man. The individual is accused of felony fleeing, felony obstruction, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer and OVI.
