ST. PETERS, Mo. – Just a day after the City of St. Peters got approval of a bill that allowed sales and use of fireworks for the Fourth of July, the decision may be reversed.

According to the city, Mayor Len Pagano has plans to veto the bill.

Ultimately, this would force the city council to override his veto with a supermajority—six of the eight aldermen—to approve the bill.

The bill allowed fireworks to be set off on homeowner’s property between noon and 11 p.m. on July 3 and July 4. It prohibits fireworks to be within 600 feet of certain facilities, including hospitals, mental health facilities, and schools.

Additionally, the bill permitted firework stands to be open beginning June 25, running through July 4.
