LANCASTER, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Animals at the Garrard County Animal Shelter were faced with a tight deadline and serious consequences after the animal shelter was forced to take in a huge number of dogs on Thursday.

More than 60 dogs were found living inside a home “in extremely deplorable conditions,” where authorities reported finding decayed animal remains.

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

The shelter announced it would close itself to the public the same day due to the large number of intakes, and shortly after, it was faced with a tight deadline to get animals adopted or they would be forced to euthanize some of the animals.

The shelter only had three days to get their numbers down, but the community and animal lovers from all around came together to help save lives.

On Sunday, the shelter announced, “All of our babies are now SAFE!!”
