Caught on camera: Burglar breaks into Arvada home

    By Gabby Easterwood,

ARVADA, Colo. (KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Arvada home burglary, where the burglar got off with over a thousand dollars in cash — and the victim says this is not his first go-around.

Surveillance video outside and inside the home clearly captured the perpetrator while he broke into the home on Sunday morning after the family had gone for the day.

They wanted to remain anonymous for their safety, but the victim and her family have lived in the neighborhood off of West 52nd Avenue for 11 years and have never dealt with something like this.

“We’ve been living here for 11 years and this has never happened to me or to us. The doors were locked, the windows were locked and he still got in,” the victim said.

Neighbors warn: It’s happened to us, too

The outdoor Ring camera video shows him slowly approaching the gate to their porch before walking through. He makes entry by breaking through their side sliding door.

Once in, he heads straight for the room where they run an esthetician business. The camera on the wall clearly shows his face once he’s inside rummaging through all of the drawers and shelves, taking all the money inside their cash drawer.

He made off with over a thousand dollars in cash, a few valuable items and their sense of security.

“I can’t believe it. I know it’s not thousands and thousands of dollars, but even if he would have taken $20, it would have made me scared the same way that I am now,” the victim said. “My kids at night, they’re scared, can we sleep with you because I don’t want the bad guy to come back, and that’s just sad for all of us.”

The victim shared the videos online, and shortly after, she got multiple messages from people saying they had gone through the same thing with the same guy, describing his appearance and how he only took a few items and cash while inside.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office told FOX31 they are actively investigating and do have the videos, but they did not share further comment.
