The program will give 1,000 free trees to Kansas City residents to support the city’s tree canopy. It is being run in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation and Bridging the Gap. This is a step the city is taking to make Kansas City the greenest city in the country.

“By planting 10,000 trees by Summer 2026, we are not only enhancing the beauty of our city but also taking crucial steps to improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and create a healthier environment for our residents,” said City Manager Brian Platt.

“Together with our partners, we are committed to building a greener, more sustainable future for Kansas City.”

The city has already planted 5,500 trees to improve air quality, reduce urban heat and make Kansas City more beautiful.
