The Future of the Belknap Lookout Park’s ‘Death Stairs’
Stairs are everywhere. They may be in your home, at work, or your gym (I'm counting the stair-stepper, I have "climbed" those stairs for hours). I was recently in Boston, Massachusetts with some friends, and we unintentionally signed ourselves up to climb nearly 300 very steep stairs inside the Bunker Hill Monument. The view was great but getting up and down...not so much.
Why Do The Public Pools in Grand Rapids Close Early For the Season?
Summer is my favorite season of the year- because as a southern transplant to Michigan, I spent so many summer days living in the water to stay cool. We didn't have Michigan's many lakes, so we couldn't enjoy swimming in my hometown unless our public pool was open. In my experience, pools are almost all open on Memorial Day Weekend and stay open all the way through Labor Day.

Poison Hemlock Caution Signs Remain at Jenison Park
GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 24, 2024) – The signs are still out for a danger at a park near Jenison. Earlier this year, residents living near Maplewood Park off of 12th Avenue noticed something unusual growing in the area, but thought that it was just hogweed. Georgetown Township parks officials began monitoring the situation, and around the Independence Day holiday, it was determined that the growth was actually poison hemlock, and warning signs were posted for the park and the adjacent splash pad.
