Tennessee Vols 4-star commit claps back at Florida Gators fan

2025 four-star defensive back Lagonza Hayward committed to the Tennessee Vols late last month.

And he doesn't regret that decision at all.

Hayward, 6-foot-1/200 lbs, is from Lyons, GA, which is about halfway between Athens and Gainesville.

In past years, it would've almost been a certainty that either Florida or Georgia would've landed Hayward's commitment given his proximity to both programs. But the Vols nailed every aspect of Hayward's recruitment, so it wasn't a surprise when he committed to Tennessee in July (in fact, it was expected).

On Monday, a Florida fan tweeted at Hayward that he should've committed to the "real DBU".

Hayward quickly responded to the Gators fan by saying "No I shouldn't have, Tennessee is home".

There's no doubt that something special is happening on Rocky Top. The Vols are landing some of the top talent in Georgia -- talent that would've never considered Tennessee under previous coaching staffs. They're also stealing top talent out of Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

If the Vols' recruiting hot streak continues, the national media won't be sleeping on Tennessee for much longer.
