Paul Finebaum Names Ceiling For Florida In 2024

This could be a pivotal season for Billy Napier, the Florida Gators' head coach. Napier is beginning his third year as the head coach and has not achieved a winning season yet.
The Gators have had three consecutive losing seasons, and if they have another one this year, it will be the first time since the 1930s. According to ESPN's Paul Finebaum , the Gators are expected to improve this year compared to the past few years, but he still doesn't think they will finish with a better record than 7-5.
"I think the Gators will be better than they have been, but I think 7-5 is maybe the ceiling," Finebaum said. "Which wouldn't be bad considering where they have been."
The ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) measures team strength and predicts a team's performance for the remainder of the season. According to FPI, the Gators are projected to have a 6-6 record for the season and finish 11th in the SEC.
One major reason for this is most likely the Gators' schedule. ESPN has ranked Florida as having the toughest schedule in the country. The Gators will be playing seven of the top 25 teams, and three of their four non-conference games are against Power Four teams. Florida will face four of the top 15 teams away from home, including a tough three-game stretch against No. 1 Georgia, No. 3 Texas and No. 14 LSU.
