Paul Finebaum Reveals How Many SEC Teams Will Make College Football Playoff

The SEC has long been considered the premier conference in college football. With the expansion of the College Football Playoff, the question arises of how many SEC teams will make it to the playoffs.
It appears that the SEC could potentially have three or four teams in the playoff. However, the teams that would make it are still uncertain. The Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns are the two teams that most people believe will make the playoff from the SEC. Other teams that have been mentioned include the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, Missouri Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners and Tennessee Volunteers.
ESPN's Paul Finebaum agreed that three or four teams from the SEC will make it to the playoffs. He mentioned Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas as potential contenders.
"Three definitely, maybe even four, depending on circumstances," Finebaum said. "I would say Georgia, Texas and probably Alabama and Ole Miss."
ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) is a metric used to measure a team's strength and is meant to predict a team's performance for the rest of the season. It slightly differs from Finebaum's viewpoint. According to the FPI, the top three SEC teams are Georgia, Texas and Alabama, with the Missouri Tigers ranked fourth. Additionally, the FPI ranks Ole Miss as the ninth team in the conference.
Still, it gives six SEC teams a higher than 30% chance of making the CFP, which would place all six in the top 10 nationally. The conference should be well-represented during playoff time.
