Giltner girl wins National American Miss Nebraska pageant
GILTNER, Neb. (KSNB) - The Olympic trials aren’t the only place you will see central Nebraska represented. Makeena Huhman will be representing Nebraska in the National American Miss pageant after being crowned Miss Nebraska Junior Pre-Teen at its pageant in Omaha. The 9-year-old says preparing for a pageant is a process; you have to pick outfits, do your hair, and maybe some nail polish and sometimes the process can be boring or frustrating, but it’s pretty easy work for Huhman.
Lots of work done ahead of Grand Island fireworks show
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Tourism and the Community Fireworks Committee have put in a lot of work in order to make this year’s fireworks show happen. Central Nebraska logs 2+ inches of rain Monday, adds onto already wet year
KEARNEY, Neb. — A wet year for Central Nebraska continued with record-setting rainfall on Monday. The Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island registered 2.07 inches of rain, which set a new record for July 1. But that wasn’t even the most rain recorded in the region. The Kearney Regional Airport reported 2.5 inches, which is more rain than the city received in the entire month of June. Stromsburg and Johnson Lake each logged nearly four inches of rain.
Grand Island Community Fireworks Display Planning Tips
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Grand Island Community Fireworks Display committee has updated information to help you prepare for this year’s fireworks display. New to many spectators is the addition of parking in the field across Stuhr Road, east of Fonner Park. Parking will be available in the “Luebbe Lot” after 8:30 p.m. on July 4. Due to the great vantage point, there is a new twist. The first 20 cars to that lot, that either show a donation receipt for $100 dated July 4 from the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, or donate $100 at the gate, will receive VIP parking.
