    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups of potatoes, mashed
    • 1/2 cup of butter, plus two tablespoons to add to the mashed potatoes
    • 1 onion, finely diced
    • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
    • 2 pounds of beef steak tips
    • 2 carrots, grated
    • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon of seasoning salt
    • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
    • 4 tablespoons of beef bouillon
    • 2 cups of water
    • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
    • Simple biscuit dough (see below)

    Instructions:

Begin by washing and peeling your potatoes. Depending on the size and type of potatoes, you will need about three medium-sized or ten small potatoes to make two cups of mashed potatoes.

In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the prepared potatoes for about 20 minutes. Drain the water and mash the potatoes with 2 tablespoons of butter until creamy. Season with pepper and seasoning salt.

Dice the onion, mince the garlic, and peel and shred the carrots.

In a bowl, make a slurry by combining cornstarch and water. Set aside.

In a large skillet, melt 1/2 cup of butter over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, beef steak tips, carrots, paprika, pepper, and seasoning salt. Cook for 12–20 minutes, stirring often. Add Worcestershire sauce, beef bouillon, and the cornstarch slurry. Cook until the sauce thickens.

    Prepare the biscuit dough.

    Simple biscuit dough:

    • 3 cups of self-rising flour
    • 1 cup of warm water
    • 2 tablespoons of butter, softened

    Instructions for simple biscuit dough:

To make the simple biscuit dough, start by combining 3 cups of self-rising flour with 2 tablespoons of softened butter and 1 cup of warm water in a bowl. Mix the ingredients until a dough ball forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a well-buttered 9x13-inch casserole dish.

Once the dough is in place, add the beef mixture and spread it out with a spatula. Then, layer the mashed potatoes on top, spreading them evenly over the meat mixture.

Next, transfer your pan to a 375-degree oven and bake for about 25 to 35 minutes.

Allow your steak and potato casserole to set for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
