NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — Pat Ruley will be taking over one of the top Division III college football programs in the region.

Ruley, a former standout Rowan University linebacker and 2013 alumnus will become the university’s eighth head coach in program history, replacing Jay Accorsi, who retired after 22 years at the helm.

Ruley spent the last six years as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

When sharing his vision for Rowan football, he said he wants “dynamic athletes.”

"I want guys that want to be playmakers on both sides of the football,” he explained. “You know, there's one thing talking about doing your job, but it's another thing to go out there and make plays when the rubber meets the road, when the lights are bright.”

He says he vows to put the players in the best position to be successful.

“We're always gonna have a great plan and our guys are gonna play tough and gonna compete week in and week out."

    Rowan went 5-5 in 2023.
