Boat traffic along the Napa River faces disruption as the Mare Island Causeway Bridge remains inoperable due to mechanical issues. The Public Works team, in collaboration with consultants and regional and state experts, is diligently addressing the problem, aiming to complete repairs by May 31st.

The bridge, a vital artery for both vehicular and marine transportation, has encountered technical difficulties hindering its ability to raise and lower to permit passage for boat traffic. Acknowledging the inconvenience caused, authorities assure the community of their commitment to expeditiously resolve the issue.

City Manager Andrew Murray emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing public safety in addressing the bridge's malfunction. "We faced a decision to keep the bridge either elevated or lowered," stated Murray. "Given that the safety of our residents is our top priority, we chose to keep the bridge in the lowered position to ensure our emergency vehicles can pass without delay in the event of an emergency."

To mitigate the impact on travelers, particularly those attending the upcoming BottleRock festival, alternative transportation options have been recommended. The San Francisco Bay Ferry and the connector, Vine Transit Bus, operating from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal, offer viable alternatives. Notably, Vine Transit services will be complimentary for BottleRock attendees and will extend operating hours to accommodate concert-goers.
