Report: Celtics re-sign Grand Rapids native Xavier Tillman

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Xavier Tillman won’t be moving back to Grand Rapids any time soon.

Tillman, a Grand Rapids Christian graduate, agreed to stay with the Boston Celtics on a two-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski .

The contract comes just two weeks after the Celtics won the NBA Finals. They have prioritized their championship-winning core, signing both Jayson Tatum and Derrick White to extensions this offseason.

Tillman helped fill the hole Kristaps Porzingis’ injury left on the roster. Tillman played in eight postseason games, helping the Celtics win an NBA-record 18th championship. He averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds through the season.

The Celtics got Tillman from the Memphis Grizzlies about halfway through the season. Now, he will get his first full season in Boston.
