    Local coffee shops outnumber Starbucks in Greenville

    For richer or pour over , Greenville’s coffee shops are what keep us going in the morning. Our city has no shortage of masterful baristas, aromatic roasts, and foamy lattes, but if you’re having trouble deciding on a spot, gather some brews clues with our guide to some of the best coffee shops in Greenville, SC.

    Pro tip : If you need to refine your order, review the different kinds of coffee before stepping up to the counter.

    New and noteworthy

    Vintage Coffee Cafe , 1501 E. North St., Greenville | This Overbrook coffee shop has become a fast favorite from Greenvillians looking for a cup of coffee or a scrumptious breakfast or lunch.

    Flying Fox Coffee , Multiple locations | Though Flying Fox has been on our list for a while now, it has two new locations: Inside GVL Art at 14 S. Main St. in Greenville + the former Stomping Grounds location at 208 Trade St. in Greer.

    Little Leaf Coffee , 215 Trade St., Greer | With Flying Fox’s move to its own space, there was room for a new coffee tenant at Cartwright Food Hall.

    Mercato Coffee Cafe , 29 W. Butler Rd., Mauldin | Located at BridgeWay Station, this shop serves Methodical Coffee and boasts plenty of seating if you’re looking for a space to get some work done.

    Downtown

    Methodical Coffee , Various locations | Likely Greenville’s most well-known roaster, you’ll find Methodical Coffee served at many local shops, so why not get a cup right from the source?


    Bex Cafe & Juice Bar , 820 S Main St., Ste. 104 | From black coffee to seasonal lattes and fresh smoothies + juice, this spot has been serving Greenvillians since 2015.

    Old Europe Coffee and Desserts , 716 S. Main St., Greenville | In addition to its Main Street location, this cafe will open another spot in Mauldin’s Bridgeway Station.

    Coffee Underground , 1 E. Coffee St., Greenville | In addition to this cozy cafe, there’s an underground theater hosting poetry, comedy, and improv.

    Spill the Beans , 531 S. Main St., Greenville | Grab a cup of coffee or a scoop of ice cream and take a stroll through Falls Park.

    Camilla Kitchen , 130 S. Main St., Ste. 200 | Located inside M. Judson, we recommend grabbing a coffee and a cookie before finding your next read.

    Carmella’s Cafe and Dessert Bar , 355 S. Main St. | Greenville’s newest cafe, located in Camperdown just steps from Falls Park, is the first spot serving Charleston’s Springbok Coffee in the Upstate.

    Cafe West , 206 E. Coffee St. | Explore local art as you sip on your hot or iced coffee.

    Summer Moon , Various locations | This locally-owned and operated coffee shop brewing oak-roasted beans + known for its signature sweet cream “Moon Milk” has quickly become a Greenville favorite.

    Cohesive Coffee , 301 Airport Rd., Unit I, Greenville | Join the mug club for $30 a month and get unlimited drip coffee or $1 off lattes.

    Bridge City Coffee , Various locations | Named Roast Magazine’s roaster of the year in 2023, you can get a cup of coffee at one of its shops or a pop-up event.

    Inspire Coffee House , 1433 Cleveland St., Greenville | This shop employs adults with disabilities and teaches life skills while helping foster community engagement.

    Grateful Brew , 501 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville | Swing by before work for a coffee or after work for a craft beer, plus keep an eye on its social media for the food truck rotation.

    The Kava Konnection , 1540 Wade Hampton Blvd., Ste. H, Greenville | This alcohol-free bar opens at noon and stays open late serving nitro coffee.

    Modal , 813 Augusta St., Greenville | Sip on JUNTO coffee, brewed in Taylors, paired with JUNTO’s syrups.

    Chestnut Coffee House + Market , Various locations | This is one of City Editor Danielle’s favorite spots to work because there are plenty of power outlets — plus Methodical Coffee .

    The Village Grind , 1258 Pendleton St, Greenville | This is the spot for coffee and a donut in the Village of West Greenville.

    Due South Coffee Roasters , 1320 Hampton Ave. Ext., Unit 4B | This shop has been roasting since 2013.

    Unlocked Coffee Roasters , 556 Perry Ave., Ste. B116, Greenville | As you order your coffee, we recommend the Colombian cheese bread.


    daydrinkers , 2903 Old Buncombe Rd., Greenville | This is one of our favorite newer spots for a coffee and some conversation.

    Other Lands , 731 Rutherford Rd., Greenville | This new spot serves hot coffee, cold beer, warm food, natural wine, and draft cocktails.

    Liquid Highway , Various locations | Get something traditional or try the hyperlocal sweet treats like the Reedy River Slide.


    Royal Coffee Bar , 2551 N. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville | While we have a few drive thru chains included on this list, Royal is a local small business.

    Cup-i-Coffee , 819 E. Stone Ave., Greenville | This new drive-thru coffee experience opened in February 2024.

    Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery , 205 Cedar Lane Rd., Greenville | Sip on a crafted beverage as you indulge in a sandwich made on fresh stecca bread.

    Tandem Creperie and Coffeehouse , 2 S. Main St., Travelers Rest | Sip on roasts from Counter Culture (based in Durham, NC) as you indulge in sweet and savory crepes.

    TRee House Cafe and Studio , 27 S Main St, Travelers Rest | Enjoy a coffee + a signature dessert as you take in the local art.

    Roaming Ritual , Food truck | Keep an eye on social media for where to find this Airstream converted into a mobile coffee shop.

    Crossroads , 112 E. Standing Springs Rd., Simpsonville | Try the Bee Sting Latte made with honey, cinnamon, and dash of cayenne pepper.

    Greer + Taylors

    Junto , 232 Mill St., Taylors | This speciality coffee roastery is located at Taylors Mill and was just named a finalist for a “Good Food Award.”

    Clutch , 3009 Wade Hampton Blvd., Taylors | Another drive thru spot, Clutch comes in clutch when you’re running late.

    Barista Alley , Various locations | One of City Editor Danielle’s favorite spots, this coffee shop’s downtown Greer location has one of the most unique atmospheres in the Upstate.


    Scandi Tiny Coffee , 301 Simply Less Cir., Greer | Tiny describes the environment, located in a tiny home community, not the size of your cup of coffee.

    Green Laundry Lounge , 10 Moorlyn Ln., Ste. G, Greer | You may be confused why a laundromat made this list, but Green Laundry Lounge is so much more than just a spot to wash your clothes.
