Firearm recovered after community complaints in Oakland
OAKLAND, California — A loaded firearm was recovered following community complaints about illegal activities at a tobacco and liquor store in Oakland, police said. The Oakland Police Department Alcohol Beverage Action Team (ABAT) received numerous complaints and information from outside agencies regarding illegal activities at a licensed tobacco and liquor store in the 700 block of Willow Street. Around 9:00 a.m. on July 23, 2024, officers from ABAT and the Support Operations Division (SOD), along with other law enforcement agencies and Oakland Building and Code Compliance, conducted a joint inspection of the business.

SF police investigating shooting near 16th Street BART that left 1 injured
San Francisco Police reported one person shot at 16th and Mission streets on Wednesday evening. At approximately 5:41 p.m., officers responded to the area on the report of a shooting and discovered a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. Officers rendered aid and medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. No arrest has been made at this time.
