Indiana State Police arrest man after rape incident at Hanover College

HANOVER, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested a Clark County man for rape on Monday.

According to a press release, Indiana State Police have been investigating an incident of sexual assault involving 22-year-old Jackson Kruer since last fall. ISP reported that the alleged rape occurred on Hanover College’s campus.

ISP was first contacted about the incident in September 2023. At that time, police learned a victim had contacted campus security immediately after she was involved in an alleged assault.

During their investigation, state police determined Kruer had left an on-campus party with an adult female during the early morning hours of Sept. 17. From there, Kruer and the woman walked to her dorm room, which is where the assault allegedly occurred.

Kruer — who ISP confirmed was a Hanover student at the time — reportedly left the dorm and returned to his own on-campus residence after the incident.

At the conclusion of their investigation, state police presented the case to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office for review. A warrant for Kruer’s arrest was subsequently issued.

Kruer was incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail after his arrest.

Rape is a Level 3 Felony in Indiana. The maximum penalty for such a crime in the Hoosier State is a 16-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
