Brooksville's wastewater situation more dire than thought
BROOKSVILLE – The city’s wastewater crisis is pushing the system closer to its limits — and exceeding those limits could cost a lot. The problem of stormwater leaking into the system is causing the city to push toward its cap of 1.9 million gallons of wastewater per day, Public Works director Richard Weeks said at a July 15 meeting of City Council.
Lead Foot City operator eager to see racing at site
BROOKSVILLE — There’s a lot of engine noise at Lead Foot City, but it’s not from racing. It’s from construction. On one recent morning, Achilles Thomas and his son, Evan, 19, were watching as workers constructed a 1/8-mile concrete drag strip on the elder Thomas’ property at 17109 Old Ayers Road in Brooksville.
