Cyclists want more, safer lanes
NEW PORT RICHEY — Riding bikes and scooters, electric or otherwise, is good exercise, economical and friendlier to the environment than gas-fueled cars. In New Port Richey, it can be inconvenient, and even dangerous. Lobbying to improve the infrastructure for cyclists brought Brad Jurgens, who owns the New Port Richey bike shop Astro Cycles, to the city’s interactive Comprehensive Development Plan workshop June 25. Jurgens and City Council member Bertell Butler IV, who was on hand at the event, agreed that many more people would use bike transportation if it were safer and convenient.
