Ground broken in New Port Richey for low-income housing for vets
NEW PORT RICHEY — The Pasco County Housing Authority’s first complex devoted exclusively to providing affordable housing for low-income veterans came one step closer to reality June 17 when ground was broken for Magnolia Oaks. The complex, to be located on a 9.8-acre property at 7338 Massachusetts Ave., will include 77 housing units, an office for a Veterans Affairs staffer to provide support services, a community building and a swimming pool. It is located on a bus line and less than two miles from the New Port Richey VA Clinic on Little Road. The Pasco Housing Authority is an independent authority not officially connected with the government of Pasco County. Mostly supported by tenant rents and funds from the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), it manages more than 200 units of housing for low-income people across the county.
