    Qualifying for Holly Springs Mayor and City Council Starts Aug. 19

    If you want to run for elected office in Holly Springs, you’ll soon have the chance to sign up.

    Qualifying for mayor and two city council seats in Holly Springs is set for Aug. 19-21.

    These seats are occupied by Mayor Steven Miller, Ward 3 City Councilmember Michael Zenchuk and Ward 5 City Councilmember Jeff Wilbur.

    Qualifying will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19-21 in person at Holly Springs City Hall in the office of the city clerk, 3237 Holly Springs Parkway.

    The qualifying fee to run for mayor is $360. The qualifying fee for city council is $180.

    To qualify, a citizen must be 21 years or older, be a citizen of the United States, be registered to vote in Cherokee County, be a resident of Holly Springs and reside within the designated geographical boundaries for a minimum of one year.

    The Holly Springs municipal election coincides with the Nov. 5 general election.

    The deadline for voter registration for the 2024 General Election is Oct. 7. For more information about registering to vote, early voting and more, visit https://cherokeegavotes.com.

    On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Holly Springs voters will vote at their applicable county precincts.
