Nampa has a new director of development services.

Mark Steuer was appointed by Mayor Debbie Kling to fill the role of senior director, the city announced Thursday via press release. Steuer was the city’s director of strategic initiatives in public works for the last two years, managing the department budget, pursuing infrastructure grants, and supporting the senior director of public works in various functions, the release said.

In his new role, which he began on Aug. 1, Steuer oversees building safety and code enforcement, planning and zoning, and development engineering, the release said.

“Mark made the decision to relocate to Idaho several years ago and we are so thankful he chose Nampa,” Kling said in the release. “Mark has been a valuable part of the team and his expertise will serve our entire community well.”

Steuer previously filled several roles for cities in California, including director of public works for the city of Irvine, deputy public works director/city engineer for the city of Riverside, director of engineering/city engineer for the city of Rancho Cucamonga, and for 17 years was a senior civil engineer for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

Steuer has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a master’s in business from the University of La Verne, and is a licensed civil engineer in Idaho, the release said.

“I am genuinely excited to serve the development community and help successfully move Nampa into the future,” Steuer said in the release.
