Indiana Fever Make Big Injury Announcement Before Game Against Lynx

    By Max Escarpio,

    2024-07-14

Indiana Fever center Temi Fagbenle has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Lynx due to her thumb injury.

Fagbenle has been a solid contributor for the Fever during the 2024 season, averaging 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. However, she has dealt with a few injuries that have held her to just 11 games so far.

The 31-year-old, who was also sidelined in the Fever's latest game against the Phoenix Mercury due to a foot issue, is now set to miss her fourth consecutive game . This will mark Fagbenle's 14th missed game of the year.

Despite the Fever's need for size and athleticism, which Temi Fagbenle brings to the table, they've developed some successful lineup changes.

Head coach Christie Sides has been mixing and matching the starting lineup in the last week, mainly with Lexie Hull, Katie Lou Samuelson and Kristy Wallace.

The two anchors throughout the year have been young stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. Indiana's rookie has averaged 16.8 points and 7.8 assists, while the 6-foot-5 forward has posted 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds through the Fever's 10-14 record.

Fagbenle will have an opportunity to return to the lineup on July 17 against the Dallas Wings at 7:30 p.m. ET. Following that matchup, the WNBA will officially take its Olympic break.
