One of the state’s top high school basketball prospects is down to five schools.

Cathedral’s Brady Koehler unveiled his top choices Thursday, listing Iowa, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The 6-9 Koehler, rated as a four-star prospect by 247sports and the No. 65 recruit in the country in the 2025 class, averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game as a junior, shooting 38.6% (32-for-83) from the 3-point line.

At the end of June, Koehler specifically mentioned four schools – Northwestern, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest – where he would like to make official visits. Iowa's interest is more recent.

“I feel like Notre Dame has made it very clear they have a lot of interest in me,” Koehler said. “Virginia Tech, too, and Northwestern. Iowa just recently started recruiting me and offered me (in the spring).”

Koehler had a lengthy list of offers, including Butler, DePaul, Rutgers, Stanford, Virginia and West Virginia. He said most of the coaches recruiting him are intrigued by his size and ability to step outside and shoot “and make the right play.”

His official visit list: Northwestern, Aug. 1-3; Iowa, Aug. 29-31; Notre Dame, Sept. 6-8; Wake Forest, Sept. 13-15; Virginia Tech, Sept. 27-29.
