The Indianapolis Colts saw second-year wide receiver Josh Downs go down with an ankle injury during Wednesday's training camp practice .

And now ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has shared that Downs suffered a high ankle sprain that will sideline him for roughly a month.

Of course, having to be sidelined at all isn't ideal for the second-year WR. But given how things looked when he couldn't put weight on his ankle and needed to be carried off the field, this seems like the best news they could have reasonably gotten.

Downs had been having an incredible training camp and was turning the heads of anyone watching the second-year WR. His connection with quarterback Anthony Richardson is off the charts, and many expect the two to do incredible things together in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, Downs' sophomore training camp is now likely over, as he will focus on rehabbing this injury and getting himself ready for the regular season.

The Colts' Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans is set to happen on September 8th, which is a little over four weeks away. This gives him a chance to play in the season opener if he heals in the month timeframe given by Fowler. However, getting Downs back to 100% is significantly more important than rushing him back on the field for Week 1 if he is not ready yet. Only time will tell, but now Downs will begin the process of nursing his injury on the sideline.
