It doesn't take too long to find a former Indiana high school or college football player on a 2024 NFL roster.

About 100 players with a strong Hoosier connection dotted this year's training camp rosters: at least 23 high schools were represented, as well as five college programs.

Ben Davis had four alums on NFL training camp rosters, and these schools have multiple NFL players: Cathedral and Center Grove (three each), and Avon and Warren Central (two each). Three Mr. Football winners are on rosters: Terry McLaurin (2013, Cathedral); Reese Taylor (2017, Ben Davis); Carson Steele (2020, Center Grove).

Notre Dame leads the way among colleges, Purdue and Indiana have more than a dozen each, and Ball State and Indiana State have multiple NFL hopefuls.

NFL players in 2024 from Indiana high schools

Jessie Bates, S, Fort Wayne Snider

He earned his first Pro Bowl nod, and was second-team All-Pro, in his first season in Atlanta. The 27-year-old posted career highs of 132 tackles, 6 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.

    David Bell, WR, Warren Central

The 2022 third-round draft pick from Purdue had a quad injury late in the Cleveland Browns preseason, leaving his Week 1 availability up in the air. He has 38 catches (10 yards per) and 3 touchdowns in two seasons.

    Austin Booker, DE, Center Grove

The fifth-round draft pick is likely facing a development season with Chicago Bears.

JuJu Brents , CB, Warren Central

If he can stay healthy, he can become the Indianapolis Colts ' No. 1 cornerback. He suffered a nose injury in preseason. The 2023 second-round pick appeared in nine games as a rookie, with 43 tackles, 1 INT and 1 forced fumble.

    Jeremy Chinn, S, Fishers

The 26-year-old fifth-year player joined the Washington Commanders on a 1-year, $4 million deal after four years with Carolina, the last two interrupted by injuries. He's set to start at strong safety.

    Dee Eskridge, WR, Bluffton

The fourth-year 2021 second-round draft pick signed with the Miami Dolphins practice squad after being waived by the Seattle Seahawks. He has 17 catches and 1 TD through three seasons, and his 2023 campaign lasted just four games (rib).

    Chris Evans, RB, Ben Davis

The fourth-year player for the Cincinnati Bengals will miss the season due to a knee injury suffered in training camp.

    Blake Fisher , T, Avon

The second-round 2024 draft pick from Notre Dame got first-team reps at left tackle to start Houston Texans training camp with mainstay Laremy Tunsil still on the mend. Fisher is expected to be a reserve.

Braden Fiske , DL, Michigan City

The second-round 2024 draft pick is expected to start right away at defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams. L.A.'s defensive line has undergone some changes, most notably the retirement of defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

    Randy Gregory, DE, Hamilton Southeastern

The Buccaneers released the 31-year-old after he failed to report to training camp. He had signed with Tampa Bay in April.

    Isaac Guerendo , RB, Avon

The 2024 fourth-round draft pick could be a factor in the San Francisco 49ers' high-powered offense if he can get healthy. He has had groin and hamstring injuries in preseason. The Niners' backfield is dinged up, including Christian McCaffrey.

    Peyton Hendershot, TE, Tri-West

The IU alum was a pleasant surprise for the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent rookie in 2022, but was limited to eight games in 2023 by injuries. Dallas traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs at the end of the preseason.

    Zander Horvath, RB, Mishawaka Marian

The 25-year-old Purdue alum who played for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 and was with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins in training camp. The Dolphins waived him.

    Mike Jerrell, OL, Pike

The 2024 sixth-round draft pick went to Div. II University of Findlay.

Lonnie Johnson Jr., CB, Gary West

The sixth-year player signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad after initial roster cuts. He had been with the Houston Texans in training camp after playing primarily on specials teams with the New Orleans Saints in 2023.

    Caleb Jones, OL, Lawrence North

The IU alum appeared in one game for the Green Bay Packers in 2023 but was released at the cut deadline.

Dawand Jones , OL, Ben Davis

Jones stepped in early at right tackle as a rookie for the Cleveland Browns, starting nine games before his season ended in December with a right knee injury. He's competing to start in Year 2.

    George Karlaftis, DE, West Lafayette

It's been two seasons and two Super Bowl titles for the Purdue alum. He has 16.5 regular-season sacks and 4 in the playoffs.

    Ted Karras, OL, Cathedral

The 31-year-old is in his ninth season overall and third with the Cincinnati Bengals. He has missed one game to injury over the past four seasons.

    Zack Martin, G, Bishop Chatard

Death, taxes and Zack Martin at right guard for the Dallas Cowboys. The 33-year-old Notre Dame alum is entering his 12th season, and he has seven All-Pro nods.

    Cameron McGrone, LB, Lawrence Central

He appeared in 12 games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2023, mostly on special teams. He starts the season on injured reserve with the possibility to return.

    Terry McLaurin, WR, Cathedral

The fifth-year player and 2013 Indiana Mr. Football is the clear No. 1 receiving option for the Washington Commanders. He has 378 career catches (14 yards per) with 25 touchdowns.

    Ryan Neal, LB, Merrillville

He had a career-high 76 tackles, including 4 for a loss, in his first year with the Bucs in 2023. He is a free agent.

    Esezi Otomewo, DL, Ben Davis

The Jacksonville Jaguars player was a 2022 fifth-round draft pick for the Minnesota Vikings and appeared in five games.

Danny Pinter , OL, South Bend Adams

Quick, name an offensive lineman who has scored a touchdown in high school, college and the NFL. That's Danny Pinter, though he was a tight end in high school and started at that position at Ball State. He missed the 2023 season for the Indianapolis Colts due to injury.

    Ben Skowronek, WR, Homestead

He was a depth piece for the Los Angeles Rams for three seasons after being taken in the seventh-round of the 2021 draft. He spent time with the Houston Texans in training camp, but recently signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad.

    Carson Steele, RB, Center Grove

Once the " most interesting man in college football ," Steele stuck with the Super Bowl champs after signing as an undrafted free agent. He excelled in two years at Ball State and performed well at UCLA in 2023.

Tippmann stepped in quickly as the starting center for the New York Jets after being picked in the second round of the 2023 draft.

Tyrone Tracy , RB, Decatur Central

The fifth-round 2024 NFL draft pick out of Purdue showed flashes in the New York Giants' preseason opener before suffering an ankle injury in training camp practice. He has since returned.

Drue Tranquill, LB, Fort Wayne Carroll

He joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 after four years with the Los Angeles Chargers, going from defensive leader to part-time starter. The Notre Dame alum still got in on 78 tackles in the regular season, then 21 in KC's Super Bowl run. He's a projected starter in 2024.

    Pete Werner, LB, Cathedral

He's entering the fourth year with the New Orleans Saints, coming off his best season (93 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries). He recently agreed to a three-year, $22.5 million contract extension.

    Russ Yeast, DB, Center Grove

The 2022 seventh-round draft pick is entering his third year with the Los Angeles Rams, coming off 2023 season in which his use on defense increased (61 tackles, 5 passes defended).
