    Ostrich disrupts traffic on Sioux Falls road

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An ostrich was loose on a Sioux Falls road Tuesday afternoon.

    According to the Sioux Falls Police Department call log, there was a traffic hazard call on West 26th Street at 11:43 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers near the intersection of 26th Street and Louise Avenue told KELOLAND News there was an ostrich in the middle of the road.

    KELOLAND News arrived at the scene after Sioux Falls Animal Control responded and captured the ostrich.

    KELOLAND News reached out to the Great Plains Zoo and they confirmed the bird does not belong to them.

    According to SFPD spokesman Sam Clemens, there were multiple birds and the owners were travelling from out of state. The owner was able to capture them and put them back in their trailer.
