ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – There’s plenty of local teams putting the finishing touches on its offseason work ahead of Week 1, including a new-look Northwestern Red Raiders squad.

The Red Raiders come into the year with a variety of returners such as linebacker Parker Fryar, wide receiver Austyn Gerard, and running back Konner McQuillan, but it’s the departure of Red Raiders career receiving leader Michael Storey and the NAIA Player of the Year in quarterback Jalyn Gramstad that serves to be the question marks for the team heading into Week 1 as players vie for starting reps.

There’s plenty to look at regarding the roster, but the only direction Northwestern wants to look is ahead.

“The biggest focus from moving on from last season was having our eyes ahead and really focusing on what’s next for us, and our guys have had a really good mentality and focus as we’ve went through offseason workouts. We’ve had a great fall camp and I think the experience we have coming back really adds a great foundation for us to build on as we’ve gotten into fall camp.” Northwestern head coach Matt McCarty said. It’s been extremely competitive. Guys at this point are itching to get out on the field and compete.”

Northwestern begins the year at Hastings on September 7th at 1:00 p.m.
