    New Southridge apartment complex underway

    KENNEWICK, Wash - Local real estate developer Cordillera held a groundbreaking event for the new Southridge apartment complex Thursday, July 25.

    The complex is across the street from Southridge High School and Trios Hospital at 5651 W 36 th Ave in Kennewick.

    The complex will contain 126 apartments, 20 town homes, a year-round food truck pavilion and multiple other amenities. The pavilion will be open to the public.

    The town homes will be two story "live-work" buildings, meaning the first floor is a commercial space and the second is a residence.

    "We have a great relationship with the high school," said Cordillera co-founder Greg Elmore, "We're working with the hospital right now. Everybody's just been wide open, fantastic to work with.

    The first apartments are expected to open in the summer of 2025.

    Work is already underway on the site as of Thursday, July 25. Ground is being prepped for construction.

    About 75 percent of the subcontractors working on the project are local.
