SCOTT, La. ( KLFY ) — Residents and businesses in the City of Scott are subject to restrictions on their water usage beginning today, May 1.

A Scott city ordinance limits when lawns and gardens can be watered every year between May 1-Sept. 30. Watering is not permitted between 2 p.m.-midnight.

Homes and businesses with odd-numbered addresses (or those without street numbers) are permitted to water their lawns and gardens on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays, while even-numbered addresses can water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The limitations do not apply to watering of lawns and gardens by hand watering or through use of drip irrigation methods. They also do not prohibit the use of water obtained from a private water well or water source other than water distributed by the city.
