SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — Have you seen the large presence of emergency responders at the San Angelo Fairgrounds? There’s no reason to be concerned, according to the City of San Angelo.

In a public statement issued on Aug. 26, the City asked residents not to enter the San Angelo Fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, to allow for a joint response exercise to be conducted. The exercise brings the Office of Emergency Management for the City of San Angelo and Tom Green County and the 6th Civil Support Team of Texas together alongside local, state and federal emergency response personnel.

Major exercise activities have been “intentionally planned to be conducted away from heavily populated areas in the interest of safety,” as per the City. However, people within the town may still notice these activities.

The City also warned that residents may notice a “heavy presence of emergency response vehicles and personnel” at the fairgrounds while the exercise is ongoing. It assures that there is no emergency or need for alarm, though, stating that it is “only a drill.”
