It is a pivotal stretch on the recruiting trail with top prospects across the country setting commitment dates and working toward decisions. With 16 current commitments in the 2025 class, Tennessee’s class currently sits at No.16 in the On3 Team Rankings at the time of writing this. The Vols are looking to close out strong over the next few weeks, and we take a look at upcoming commitment decisions.

4-star Wide Receiver Travis Smith (July 13th)

It is decision day for Smith as he is making his college decision at 7:30 tonight. He is set to pick between Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. He took official visits to each during the month of June. Smith has been a long-time priority for the Vols, and he would close out their class at wide receiver, if he chooses to join current wide receiver commitments, Joakim Dodson and Radarious Jackson . Many have viewed this as a Georgia-Tennessee battle for months, and this still appears to be the case heading into the decision, but Alabama and Auburn have remained in the picture over the last couple of months.

4-star LB Christian Gass (July 20th)

The Vols are again going head-to-head with Georgia for a top target. USC is hanging around for the top-100 linebacker target, but this is shaping up to be another battle between the Vols and Bulldogs. Gass took official visits to each school in June, and he has not tipped his hand much at this point. He has a long-standing relationship with Tennessee, but the pressure to stay in-state and play in Kirby Smart’s defense is also strong. Tennessee positioned itself well coming out of June, but the Bulldogs are very much in this race, and it will be a heated battle to the finish line.

4-star Safety Lagonza “Shaedy” Hayward (July 27th)

Hayward named Tennessee his leader early in the spring, but official visits in June led to multiple twists and turns with different publicly named leaders in this recruitment. Hayward visited Tennessee officially the final weekend before the dead period, and the Vols will hope to ride the momentum from that visit to the finish line. Florida and South Carolina very much remain in the mix in this heated recruitment, with Georgia also still hanging around.

4-star OL Juan Gaston (August 2nd)

Mammoth offensive tackle Juan Gaston will give one team good news to kick off August. He had a busy spring and run of June official visits. This is another battle that many believe comes down to Tennessee and Georgia in the end, however, Oregon and South Carolina both remain in the picture. Gaston does not tip his hand at all, so each school will have positives to feel strongly about heading into the finish line. It is possible he could take more visits at the end of the month when the recruiting world re-opens for a week.

5-star OL David Sanders (August 17th)

It is just over a month until the most important prospect on Tennessee’s recruiting board makes his announcement. Sanders announced a top four of Georgia, Nebraska, Ohio State and Tennessee earlier in the week. The Vols and Buckeyes both came out of June feeling good about their position with the elite prospect. He is another prospect who could also take visits the final week of the month making a final decision in mid-August.

Other prospects who could make decisions in the coming weeks

Georgia linebacker commitment Jadon Perlotte has a final decision to make, and he has maintained a plan to make it before his senior season starts. Elsewhere, long-time defensive back target Onis Konanbanny will decide between Florida State, North Carolina, and Tennessee when he makes a decision. He has continued to eye doing something before his senior season starts as well.
