The Tennessee Volunteers are heading into 2024 with high expectations after a 9-4 finish last season. The team announced some new uniforms that fans did not receive well. Tennessee first used the "Smokey Grey" threads during the 2013 season.

The uniforms include the Tennessee state logo with three stars in the middle. Many fans joked about Dragon Ball Z, saying the emblem looked oddly similar to a dragon ball from the show.

The mere mention of three stars brought certain fans back to the Butch Jones era on Rocky Top. Jones gave a legendary quote after being asked about one of Tennessee's recruiting classes and said the team had "five-star hearts."

There were even some Tennessee fans who were not impressed. Their main issue was also with the logo.

It will be a new era under center at Tennessee. Nico Iamaleava will start at quarterback in 2024. Iamaleava was a former five-star QB and the sixth-overall prospect from the 2023 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings .

The Volunteers have edge rusher James Pearce back on defense, Dylan Sampson, Bru McCoy, and Squirrel White back on offense, and various offensive line members from last season coming back in 2024.

Tennessee opens the season against the Chattanooga Mocs on Aug. 31.
