Tennessee lands yet another top-100 recruit for 2025

The vibes are immaculate right now in Knoxville.

The Tennessee Volunteers continue to tear up the recruiting trail. On3's Chad Simmons reported on Saturday, July 20 that 4-star linebacker Christian Gass had chosen the SEC program to start his college football career.

Coming out of Covington, Georgia, Gass is a 4-star recruit and a top-100 player nationally. His offers included other top-tier SEC programs like the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators, but Gass ultimately decided to head north to play for Josh Heupel and the Volunteers.

“Tennessee has been genuine with me from the beginning,” Gass told Simmons. “When I narrowed things down, who was genuine and who showed me love was important."

It's yet another top-100 recruit in 2025 for the Tennessee program. The commitment helped vault the Volunteers into a top-10 recruiting class for 2025, jumping ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners, Miami Hurricanes, and Michigan Wolverines.

The Volunteers 2025 class is headlined by quarterback George MacIntyre , a 4-star QB out of Nashville. He has SEC in his veins, with his grandpa being a former Vanderbilt head coach by the same name.

Heupel is on fire when it comes to this recruiting class. With a 20-6 record over the last two seasons for the Volunteers, he's hoping that classes like the 2025 one can help turn Tennessee into a perennial SEC contender with multiple trips to the College Football Playoff in the near future.
