SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In partnership with Mercy Hospital Springfield, Dickerson Park Zoo will be adding two new nursing stations on the grounds.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Mercy Nursing Habitats at Dickerson Park Zoo will take place on Wednesday, May 22, at 8:00 a.m., at Dickerson Park Zoo.

According to a press release from the zoo, the new nursing stations, constructed entirely by the zoo’s maintenance staff and furnished by Habitat for Humanity Springfield ReStore, provide nursing mothers and their families with a comfortable, private space to relax and enjoy within the zoo’s grounds.

“DPZ is proud to grow our accommodations to meet the needs of our guests,” said Friends of the Zoo director, Allyson Tuckness in the press release. “A private place for nursing mothers has been one of our main requests from zoo guests, and none of this would be possible without our community partners. The zoo is so grateful for the collaboration with Mercy Hospital and Habitat for Humanity Springfield ReStore.”
