Rated-R circus banned to children coming to Topeka’s West Ridge Mall

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A spooky circus show is due to make a visit to the Capital City later this fall with a performance banned to children.

27 News spoke with West Ridge Mall’s Manager Casey Richardson who said two circus shows will be visiting the west side of town in September and October: Cirque Italia and Do Portugal Circus. Both will be set up in the mall’s parking lot where they promise to deliver plenty of entertainment to locals.

Cirque Italia – Paranormal II

The circus company Cirque Italia will bring its “ Paranormal II ” show to West Ridge Mall’s western parking lot, found at 21st Street near the old Burlington Coat Factory. This show has an R-rating, meaning those between the ages of 17 and 13 will need to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21 to attend.

• 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
• 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.
• 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.
• 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
• 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23.

Richardson said tickets, while not on sale yet, will range between $20 and $65. More information on upcoming shows and tickets can be found online by clicking here . The date when tickets will go on sale will be announced in the near future.

This circus visited the Topeka area last in 2023 , delivering numerous exciting performances of illusionists, acrobatics and more beneath a red and black tent at Heartland Motorsports Park . Cirque Italia is recognized for its blend of acrobatics and water shows which travel to different locations across North America each year. The Paranormal II show also has tour dates set for Wichita from Sept 13-16.

Do Portugal Circus

Richardson said this circus will be set up in the northern parking lot near the Petland entrance off of 17th Street. Showtimes begin in late September and continue into early October.

• 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
• 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
• 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Do Portugal is known for presenting lively performances open to all ages. This includes traditional circus acts that provide fun for the whole family. Tickets range in price from $15 to $30 and can be purchased online by clicking here.
