12-story condominium building to begin construction in Downtown Spokane

    2024-04-01

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A previously stalled development project in Downtown Spokane is back on and in the pre-construction phase.

The Falls Development will be a 12-story residential building at N Lincoln St. and W Broadway Ave.

Proposed by LB Stone Properties in 2017, the original plan was to build a mixed-use project with multiple towers, each at 13-stories high.

The project was later scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a rise in construction costs and inflation.

The new building will house 38 for-sale condominiums, ranging from 1,600-3,000 square feet, an underground parking garage and views of the Spokane River.

Developers hope the project will encourage further growth in the city.

"We're really hoping this is going to be a catalyst for the north side and future development as we go along here. Obviously we've got some great things happening on the north side of the river, and just one more dense urban housing option right in the middle of downtown, and extending that to the north...we think it's just going to be great for our city in general," said Wes Southwick, LB Stone Properties Project Manager.

Local business also expressed their excitement for the new building.

Kyle Gaber, supervisor at Victory Burger across the street from the development site, said they are excited for the increased foot traffic.

"We're really stoked for it," said Gaber. "The condominiums that are being built, it's just going to create a bigger uptick in sales for us around here."

LB Stone also has future plans to build a restaurant on the property.

The company expects construction to be complete by 2026.
