Parks department trying to clean up local pond
SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – The city’s park department is working to clean up the Waterworth Memorial Park in Salem after nature has covered up the pond. A large portion of the duck pond at Waterworth Memorial Park has a thin green layer floating on top. Duckweed, as it’s called, has taken over.

A 16-story apartment building in Ohio may reopen early next month, several weeks after it was temporarily shuttered following a deadly natural gas explosion that severely damaged a neighboring building. Youngstown officials had ordered the evacuation of the International Towers on June 10 after an engineering firm determined that the neighboring Realty Tower building remained structurally unsafe and was in “danger of imminent collapse.” Another nearby building, which houses the city’s only hotel, was also ordered closed. Timeline set for demolition of Realty Tower
A timeline is beginning to form for the demolition of the Realty Building. The demolition process for the building is expected to start next week. But before that happens, the property managers of Realty Tower told residents they will be able to get some of their belongings out of the building.
