The Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association released its 2024 all-district teams. The NEOBCA includes more than 200 schools and serves Ashland, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne counties. Southern Local stadium receives upgrade
Southern Local High School’s Wigwam Stadium will have a fresh look when the Indians kick off the football season this fall as officials improve its surface and lighting. Superintendent Tom Cunningham said work wrapped up on an estimated $518,906 turf replacement project and new material was purchased from FieldTurf, which has companies across North America including Buckeye Lake. Officials said the sod was of a higher quality and the stadium had not received improvements in years.

AUSTINTOWN STAYS ON TOP OF THE DISTRICT
BOARDMAN OH- Ava Fisher was clutch, driving in four runs on two hits to lead Austintown to a 9-1 romp over Canfield on Monday, clinching their second straight district title. Fisher’s bat was hot, knocking in two runs with a single in the second and another two with a single in the fourth.
BARONS WIN THEIR WAY INTO SEMIFINALS
STRUTHERS OH- In a tight play-in game, the 3B Barons topped Creekside 6-4. Rory Pischer contributed with two hits and a run. Ben Yeckel was a powerhouse, racking up three hits, including a double and triple, and driving in three runs. Kolton Carlson also had a big game with three hits, including two doubles, and scored a run. Tristan Blum added a double, an RBI, and a run.

Canfield lacrosse player chosen for All- American team
Canfield junior Charlie Boris has been selected to represent the Midwest on the All America Lacrosse team for a second year in a row. For the last 18 years, the All America Lacrosse Tournament has helped showcase some of the top lacrosse talent in the nation in front of the best college programs in the country. Each division competed within itself at the tryouts and those players are selected by an evaluation team. Once selected, the teams travel to the main event to determine which region is the best.
RD1 RESULTS: 2024 WOSGA Cosmopolitan Four-Ball
On July 1st, the Northern Ohio Golf Association held day one of the WOSGA 5th Women’s Cosmopolitan Four-Ball at Alliance Country Club in Alliance, Ohio. Natalie Weinsz (North Canton) & Carol Bonavida (North Canton) emerged as the leaders after day one with a net score of 61 (-11). In the Overall Gross Results, Fiona Connor (University Heights) & Missy Gideon (Hudson) had a great day after tallying a 74 (+2).
PROSPECTS OUTLAST ATHLETIX TO MOVE ON IN PLAYOFFS
STRUTHERS OH- In a marathon game that lasted 12 innings, the Prospects edged out Athletix 7-6. Brandon Toot was a standout, racking up three hits, including a triple, and scoring twice. Nathan Paolucci added two hits, including a double, drove in two runs, and scored once. Aidan Anders was on fire with four hits, including a double, two RBIs, and a run. Cam Herrick contributed with two hits, a double, and two RBIs, while Payton Plizga had two hits and a run.
