Manassas man faces murder charge after arrest in Virginia Beach, following deadly hit-and-run in Dumfries
A Manassas man faces charges including murder after he was arrested in Virginia Beach Friday, following a deadly hit-and-run in Dumfries, police said. Prince William County police said Keith Anthony McBride, 41, of Manassas, was arrested by Virginia Beach City police for allegedly stealing a man’s car and fatally striking him with it before driving away on July 20.
Strong-arm robbery at Rockville housing complex
Rockville City police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at an apartment complex last Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2024. The robbery was reported along the street in the 1200 block of First Street at 4:15 PM. That is outside of the David Scull Courts housing complex, located near David Scull Park and Gude Drive.

Virginia will hold a three-day sales tax holiday and Maryland will hold a similar one for a week, as local shoppers load their carts with back-to-school items. This year’s Virginia’s sales tax holiday, from Aug. 2 to Aug. 4, comes after state lawmakers forgot to renew the sales tax holiday during budget negotiations back in March 2023. That legislation expired so it could not be offered in August, as in previous years, when people are usually shopping for back-to-school items. But it was eventually held last October.

A woman from D.C. is facing a felony charge related to the 2023 escape of a Virginia Department of Corrections prisoner who was from Dale City. Sasha Castillo, of Washington, D.C., was indicted on a charge of aiding escape of a prisoner by a grand jury in Richmond on July 1.
