Beach Pond Camp was a haven for city kids in the 1930s. Now you can explore its eerie ruins
EXETER – The first clue that something once existed deep in the woods here is a towering, rusted water tank shrouded by the trees that have grown up around it. Other evidence includes concrete foundations, a tall stone chimney and several dilapidated, rotted-wood cabins. The decaying structures are the...
25 SouthCoast ‘Hole In the Wall’ Restaurants You’re Missing Out On
One of the best perks we have here at Fun 107 is our duty to eat at our local restaurants. Every time we have a Seize the Deal with a local restaurant it is our responsibility to visit that restaurant with a gift card so that we know what we are talking about when we are on the air. The more Seize the Deals we do with a restaurant, the more familiar we are with it, which is beneficial to both the client and listeners (and us, if we're being honest).

You think your summer has been hot? Try working in a Newport restaurant.
Here we are in the middle of summer in Newport. A successful U.S. Senior Open has come and gone only to make room for the Infosys Hall of Fame Open now in full swing. On the horizon, the Folk Festival will be at Fort Adams soon and the Jazz Festival is queued up right behind it. Meanwhile, the Island is still a preeminent vacation spot for tourists and travelers looking for a special escape, which is keeping things busy around here, while the ongoing high temps and humidity are driving even more people to our hometown to stay cool by the ocean air. Hotels are being booked, restaurants are filling up and the whole Island is abuzz with activity. It’s go time in the City by the Sea.
Latin Soul BBQ Brings a Bold Twist to Rhode Island’s Culinary Pop-Up Scene
What began as a COVID pivot project, Latin Soul BBQ has gone from popping up around the state with Latin-inspired BBQ to finding a summer home base at Foolproof Brewing Company in Pawtucket. "I was laid off during COVID and always wanted to do something on my own," says founder Jose Rodrigo. He started small, selling plates out of his apartment, and quickly grew into the pop-up space in 2022 to reach a larger audience. Today Rodrigo is fully committed to his BBQ dreams. "I wanted to do something a little different but still familiar so people wouldn’t stray away."

Dine For Less Than $10 A Person At This Iconic Hot Dog Stand In Massachusetts
There are so many wonderful restaurants in Massachusetts I would love to try. However, the cost of dining out tends to add up very quickly, so I try to limit my restaurant visits to a few times a month. Needless to say, I am always so excited when I discover an eatery that is not only delicious but also affordable. I recently told you about six classic Massachusetts hot dog stands. One of these icons, Nick’s Hot Dogs in Fall River, has a menu full of delicious meals that will fill you up for under $10.

In a Sea of New England Classics, Inked Menus Pop Off
Up until the last 15 years or so, our seafaring city’s culinary profile represented a sort of steadfast but staid New England style. In 2024, Newport still floats on a sea of chowder (find me one that isn’t more aptly described as creamy potato soup, please and thank you), but now you can also get fresh, locally made mozzarella cheese, Italian meats flown in directly from Italy, French pastries and baguettes made by a Parisian- born and trained baker, grass fed steaks sourced from area farms, and meals made by James Beard nominated chefs. But if you’re looking to go a little punk rock, you’ll need to check out Diego’s, Wharf Southern Kitchen, Wharf Fish House, and The Quencher, all part of a feisty family of eclectic and funky restaurants under the Inked Restaurant Group umbrella.
