Shohei Ohtani continues to do marvelous things in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Tuesday, the two-time American League Most Valuable Player added to his league-leading home run total with a solo blast in the first inning of the game between Los Angeles and the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.

With that home run, Ohtani put the Dodgers on the board first and tied a streak last done by a Dodger nearly seven decades ago, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

Shohei Ohtani’s 9 straight games with at least 1 RBI is tied for the longest single-season streak by a Dodger since RBI became official (1920), with:

    1955 Roy Campanella

    1944 Augie Galan

    1924 Eddie Brown

Ohtani went 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk on top of his home run in the Dodgers’ 4-3 victory over the White Sox. Ohtani now has 25 home runs this season to go with a .320 batting average, a .398 OBP, and a .634 slugging percentage.

Only Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees (29) and Gunnar Henderson (25) of the Baltimore Orioles have more home runs in the big leagues this season than Ohtani, who also boasts a 1.032 OPS – second-best in the majors.
