LYONS VILLAGE COUNCIL: MCS Manufacturing Closing; Funding For Village Discussed
MCS Manufacturing … The company located on County Road 10-3 will soon close its doors as announced at the Lyons Village Council Meeting. The Lyons Village Council held their meeting on Monday, July 1st. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, before members moved on to discuss the following items.
Fulton County Senior Center Offering Free Legal Aid
(PRESS RELEASE) – The Fulton County Senior Center, in partnership with Legal Aid of Western Ohio, is offering a series of free legal information classes beginning in August. The first free legal information class, Health Advance Directives, is scheduled for Monday, August 19 at 1 pm in the Multipurpose room at Fulton County Senior Center, 695 S. Shoop Avenue, Wauseon.

Summer car shows in Adrian finding a new home at Lenawee County Fair & Event Grounds
ADRIAN — Car shows in Adrian that were once part of the First Fridays summer lineup of events in the city have found a new home. Shows organized and held in and near the East Church Street parking lot of Nova’s Soda Pop Candy Shop, 105 E. Church St., and throughout the downtown streets, have relocated to the Lenawee County Fair & Event Grounds on the east side of Adrian. The first show held at the county’s historic fairgrounds was in June and the next monthly show is scheduled for today, Friday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.
75 sworn in as citizens on July Fourth at Sauder Village
ARCHBOLD, Ohio – In 2018, Gamal Mohamed won a green card lottery and moved his family from Cairo to the United States. On Thursday, Mr. Mohamed, 62, a Toledo restaurant chef, was all smiles as he watched his wife of 25 years, Maha Mohamed; daughter Nadia Mohamed, and son Mostafa Mohamed take an oath of citizenship. Mrs. Mohamed and her children were among 75 people, originally of 37 countries, who were sworn in as U.S. citizens by Magistrate Judge James Knepp during a naturalization ceremony at Sauder Village, a popular living-history destination location in Fulton County. About 400 attended the 60-minute event. “I am happy and proud that I gave them that opportunity, and I hope to be soon joining them as a U.S. citizen,” the older Mr. Mohamed said.

17 apply for vacant Sylvania Township trustee seat
The two Sylvania Township trustees will take some time to sift through the resumes of 17 candidates for the vacant third seat. Trustee John Crandall retired after the last trustees meeting, which was June 18. Mr. Crandall’s term runs through Dec. 31, 2025. At Tuesday’s meeting, Neil Mahoney, trustee chairman, said the plan is to “short-list” the names by July 10, then start interviews. They could begin around the next trustees’ meeting, which is July 16, he said. “And hopefully move pretty quick from there,” Mr. Mahoney said.
City of Adrian Compost Site Closing Saturday in Observance of Independence Day Holiday
Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian compost site will be closed Saturday, July 6th, for the holiday weekend. Compost site activities will resume Tuesday July 9th. Please remember all yard waste deposited at the compost site in anything other than biodegradable and/ or compostable paper bags must be removed from the bag or container. Bulk trash is limited to one truck bed per day.

Anthony Wayne High School to be exclusive polling location for Whitehouse voters
The Lucas County Board of Elections decided at its monthly meeting Tuesday that Anthony Wayne High School will be the exclusive polling location for voters in Whitehouse. Population growth and high voter turnout prompted the change, said Tim Monaco, deputy director of the Board of Elections. Residents who had used Community of Christ Lutheran Church will be notified of the change, Mr. Monaco said. The change was inevitable because the board was “going to have to make it [the change] in two years for population growth, anyway.”
