Former Tennessee Vols slugger Christian Moore just made a big case on Wednesday night for another quick minor league promotion

Christian Moore has wasted zero time in making his case at a shot at the Los Angeles Angels' roster, and the way things are going, the impossible just might be actually possible for the former Tennessee Vols slugger in 2024.

Moore continues to hammer the baseball during his brief time in the minor leagues, jumping almost immediately from low-A ball up to double-A.  Since that jump?  He's continued his red-hot tear, and that culminated with a memorable moment on Wednesday night in Madison, Alabama for the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Moore clubbed his second home run and third hit of the game over the wall in right field for a walk-off win.

The walk off blast put Moore at 6 hits in 13 double A at bats with three home runs and four RBIs.  Overall, in the minors, Moore has 12 hits in 24 at bats with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and an OPS of 1.603.

Of course, those averages will decline as the level of competition ratches up with each promotion.  However, Moore has shown that he's more than capable of handling the competition through AA ball, at least so far.

It's not crazy to think Moore could be a late season call up for the Angels.  Los Angeles has shown a willingness to promote young players quickly.  They called up 2023 first round pick Nolan Schanuel about a month after drafting him.

The Angels, like last year, are also well out of contention.  At 50-64, they're 9 games back in the AL West and 13.5 back in the Wild Card race.  As such, there's not much left at the end of the season other than to kick the tires on some young players and see how they fare.

Even if that call doesn't come this year, it's still coming at some point soon.  Moore is simply playing too well for it not to.
