    K-State outfielder picked on final day of MLB draft

    Manhattan ( KSNT ) – Brendon Jones is the next wildcat to say goodbye to the little apple from this years MLB draft.

    Jones was selected in the twelfth round, No. 361 overall, by the New York Yankees. He now joins the K-State draft list, along side fellow teammates Kaelen Culpepper, Tyson Neighbors, Jackson Wentworth and Brady Day.

    Jones, a junior, was an outfielder for the ‘cats and racked up many honorable stats during his 2024 season, including a .303 batting average,75 hits, 35 RBIs, and was named Big 12 honorable mention in 2023. His baserunning is also admirable, as he reached a high of 40 stollen bases this 2024 season.

    Jones’ is the fifth wildcat selected in the MLB draft, the most K-State’s seen since 2011.
