2.2 magnitude earthquake rattles N.J. early Wednesday
A 2.2 magnitude earthquake rattled part of New Jersey early Wednesday, the strongest tremor to hit this state this month. The earthquake was centered about 3.1 miles east of Califon, Hunterdon County, N.J., not far from Easton, Pa. It hit at about 1:44 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Residents oppose turning N.J. reservoir into park featuring ice skating rink, carousel and train ride
Some residents of Clark have raised concerns over Union County’s proposed $43 million dollar project to develop the Clark Reservoir Recreation Area. The project would include dredging the main lake, cutting back vegetation and turning 8 acres into active recreation space at the county-owned recreation area. This includes an ice skating rink, a carousel and a children’s train ride, along with two new boat ramps, paved parking for 140 vehicles, paved walking paths, three pedestrian bridges, a bathroom and maintenance building, a storage building for kayaks and canoes, and a plaza.

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Hunterdon County experienced a minor earthquake at 1:44am on July 31, 2024. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake at a magnitude of 2.2, with its epicenter located east of Califon near Old Turnpike Road (County Route 517). This tremor marks the 181st aftershock following a 4.8 magnitude earthquake in April, which was the strongest in New Jersey since 1884.
