Future of Bill Burton Fishing Pier Under Discussion
CAMBRIDGE, MD. - The future of the Bill Burton Fishing Pier, a landmark nearly connecting Dorchester and Talbot counties, is currently under discussion by state, city, and county leaders. Closed since December 2021, the pier's fate is uncertain as the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) seeks to determine the best course of action.

SALISBURY, Md. – Once a month, GMD features an animal from the Salisbury Zoo. We’re meeting Tank the Tortoise! This African Sulcata Spurred tortoise can be found in the Sahara Desert, and parts of northern central Africa. Ally Wright, a veterinary technician at the zoo tells us, that Tank has a big personality, and at times can be a bit silly.
Cambridge Time Machine: Going to See the Blacksmith
Market Street next to the creek was once an important part of Cambridge’s commercial sector. It had a grocery, a restaurant, and several blacksmiths, including Joe Brocato, who fixed dredges and tongs. Perhaps the most popular place was the Camper Sisters Bakery, famous for its pies, doughnuts, and beaten biscuits. Urban renewal in 1968 forced all the businesses to close or relocate.

EASTON — Bas Rouge Executive Chef Harley Peet brought home the Eastern Shore’s first ever James Beard award last week, when he was named the Mid-Atlantic Best Chef at an award presentation in Chicago. “To be able to bring that home to everybody, to the entire hospitality industry in Easton, Cambridge, St. Michaels and Tilghman, that’s what I’m excited about,” Peet said. “That has to be the biggest thing.” The...
Jane Rigby and the Webb Space Telescope Summer Exhibit
The Seaford Museum is presenting a Webb Room Summer Exhibit featuring images from the Webb Space Telescope and the awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Dr. Jane Rigby, a Seaford native now living in Maryland. Dr. Rigby graduated from Seaford High School in 1996 and is now the astro-physicist with NASA and in charge of the wonderful new space telescope that is capable of photographing stars that were never known to exist until now.
