LEAF has a new name, vision and mission
LEAF was born out of a disaster, the 2013 flood. Before the flood, helping organizations and people were working together and separately to strengthen Lyons. In 2014, many of them banded together to create a single organization to support Lyons through the crisis of the flood and beyond. That’s how LEAF came to be. For the first years, LEAF functioned primarily as a human services safety net, providing short-term help for people who needed it.
Stolen truck that belonged to victim's late father found in Brighton
BRIGHTON, Colo. — Police in Brighton have found a stolen truck that was worth far more than the sum of its parts to its owner. Colton Smith's pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of an AMC movie theater in Highlands Ranch in June. But to Smith, it was more than a pickup truck — it was a connection to his father, Steve, a fire marshal who had passed away more than two years earlier.

Welcome to the New Academic Year!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year at Colorado State University! This year’s incoming class is one of the largest, most academically qualified and diverse classes ever to arrive at CSU. This special group is infusing our campus with so much fresh energy and excitement, and we are eager to see the impact they will make. Thanks to the staff, faculty and volunteers who orchestrated orientation, move-in and Ram Welcome. Your involvement eases the transition to university life and shows students what it means to be part of the Ramily. As both president and the parent of two CSU students, I appreciate all you do to make it a positive experience for students and families.
This Week in History: Aug. 15, 1980 – For Rent
It is no secret that rental units – homes, cabins, condos or apartments – are extremely difficult to come by in Estes Park and the surrounding areas. The Aug. 9, 2024 edition of the Estes Park Trail-Gazette did not include one listing for a place to live for rent. A search on Craigslist.org, a more common place in today’s world to find a place to rent, listed only four places available for rent in Estes Park, ranging in price from $1,200 to $3,500 a month. And Estes Park News included only two listings in their online classifieds, advertised at $1,200 per month and $3,400 per month.

Denver Broncos insider puts shocking player on the roster bubble
Believe it or not, there are only about two more weeks before NFL teams have to start the process of cutting rosters down to just 53 players for the start of the regular season. The first week of the preseason is in the books, and roster competition is still happening all over for the Denver Broncos, but we might be surprised at some of the players currently on the roster bubble.
