    Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart.

Marcus Smart and virtually the entire Memphis Grizzlies roster were bit hard by the injury bug in the 2023-24 season.

The former Celtics guard, acquired via trade last offseason, played in just 20 games but averaged 14.5 points, 4.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and a career-best 2.1 steals per game.

While Smart, 30, is expected to be a key piece of the Grizzlies roster in 2024-25, teams have had plenty of interest in potentially acquiring the three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team guard.

According to Bleacher Report's Chris B. Haynes , Smart is a "name to look out for" as "multiple contending teams" have been calling the Grizzlies to inquire what it would take to acquire Smart. Haynes said Smart is "definitely" a player who could be on the move this offseason.

However, as appealing as the idea of a contender adding Smart may be, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported just before the 2024 NBA Draft that the Grizzlies "have no interest" in dealing him.

While teams may be calling the Grizzlies about Smart, it doesn't appear they've budged on the plan to feature him in the backcourt alongside Ja Morant. Memphis did draft former UConn guard Cam Spencer with the No. 53 pick, but that shouldn't impact the franchise's mindset.

Smart is currently under contract through the 2025-26 season and will become an unrestricted free agent. He'll earn over $20.2 million this coming season and over $21.5 million in 2025-26.
