MEMPHIS, Tenn. — We are less than 45 days away from the first FedEx Cup Playoff event of the PGA Tour season played at TPC Southwind for the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Currently, last year’s champion, Lucas Glover is fighting his way up the FedEx standings with hopes to defend his title.

” I want to be there and I want to play. Just being competitive you want to be back somewhere where you did something great,” said Glover.

Life has changed drastically for Glover over the last 11 months. Just one week before last year’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, Glover was not even within the top 100 in Cup points. That was before he put together back-to-back wins, first at the Wyndham Championship to punch his ticket to Memphis. Then winning the FedEx St. Championship, which earned him a three-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

” I’ve been busy, obviously with the new setup and schedule. That success set me up to get into all of the ‘hot shot’ events this year so I’ve been playing a bunch. I haven’t been playing great, but we’re not far off like we saw last summer, so I’m working hard and keeping the faith”.

As of now, Glover sits 71st in the FedEx Cup Standings and just nine points shy of being within the field of 70, with only five tournaments to make up ground leading up to Memphis.

However, Glover knows it only takes one weekend to change everything.

” I put more pressure on myself more than anybody else can create for me. I want to be there, I play well there. I like it there, I’ve finished third and first the last couple of years and I really enjoy the golf course. I really enjoy the tournament and the town and all those things,” saig Glover. It’s kind of a benchmark now, instead of something to keep your card it’s an opportunity to get into all of the big tournaments next year. As it sets now, I wouldn’t be in those, so there’s a lot of carrots dangling to get to Memphis right now”.
